Update December 25, early review: The Charleston City Paper dropped by the recently opened spot.
The general vibe is that the restaurant is good but not yet flushed out enough to judge; take a read of the review here.
First reporting October 7: It's taken the better part of a year to come together but it sound like the Runaway Bay Restaurant is finally coming together at North Charleston's Riverfront Park on the old Navy base.
The restaurant is being built in one of the historic Panama Officer’s Quarters on the Cooper River, by four sisters, Donna, Mary, Lileeth & Alexis Kong. According to Donna, “We will be the only casual-upscale dinning facility in the Tri-county area offering authentic Jamaican and Caribbean food."
The Post and Courier recently caught up with the sisters and has a nice profile on their backgrounds and why they think the restaurant will be a hit; take a read here.
No open date is set yet but is to be "very soon," and they're already hosting bands with the next one being this Friday, October 8, with Mystic Vibrations playing from 7:30 to 11 p.m.
