SUMMERVILLE, S.C. – Patrons of the annual Southern Flame Food & Music Festival will help support baseball players in the Summerville Miracle League, a baseball league for children with special needs. Scheduled for April 27 from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. under the oaks at The Ponds, a 1,950-acre master-planned community in Summerville, the festival is a day of live music, a BBQ competition and family-friendly fun – all to benefit the Summerville Miracle League. The public is welcome.
Headlining this year’s festival is Eddie Bush and the Mayhem, a Charleston-based blues and rock musician. Other acts who will perform throughout the day include local favorites Common Ground, Dee Dee Cumbee and Hugh Price. Musical styles range from Southern rock to bluegrass, country and blues.
The BBQ Cook-Off is also a signature event at the festival. Both professionals and amateurs can compete to see who cooks up the best ‘cue. There will be cashes prizes and trophies for the top finishers in each category. Entry fees are $75 for pork butts for the Backyard (Amateur) Division and $225 for pork butts and $100 for ribs for the Competitor (Professional) Division. The event is free and open to the public; however, parking is $10/car at the gate or $8/car purchased in advance online. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
